I worked for three hours this morning, and then had the delight of picking up Henry from school early at 11:40am for “early release day”. I took him to the mall to ChickFilA for lunch and having that sweet time with him warmed my soul. As we were waiting for our food, there was a young girl behind us with her mother. She was dressed in a princess ball gown with faux jeweled earrings and necklace. It is her 5th birthday, and she was positively glowing! It brought back such dear memories of my daughter Katie at that age. You couldn’t get her out of Disney princess dresses, plastic heels, and all manner of accessories. Time is so fleeting! Those moments feel like a lifetime ago, and it made me appreciate the fact that I still have a 10 year old and that my mothering years have been abundantly full. Having six children was the overflowing joy I didn’t know I needed.
I came home after all that and took a lovely nap for an hour. I had a bit of time before picking up Luke from school so I prepped the Taco Casserole for dinner. Then I grabbed two Caramel Apple lollipops, one for me and one for Luke, and headed out on the golf cart to get him. He always wants me to bring the dog, and I do, and we happily reunite after a full day. I grabbed Henry and we headed to his swim practice. I dropped him there and headed to Planet Fitness again. I walked a mere 1.15 miles, but that is better than I have been doing! I walked out to a windy + crazy storm, picked him Henry, and headed home to partly cloudy skies. Dinner is in the oven, all of my kids have evening plans, and we are going to play some Spikeball and watch Madam Secretary.
I am looking forward to a hot shower and some deep sleep tonight. Fingers crossed! Sleep makes all the difference in the world for me and my energy levels, and when I get 7-8 uninterrupted sleep consistently, I can get amazing amounts of work done. But when I don’t, everything feels hard and I let housework slide. My clean laundry pile has grown, and I need to tackle it!
Hope your Thursday evening is filled with connection and peace.
