I spent Thursday and Friday working long days for Abundant Graze doing prep and set-up for two big events. They were good days, but by Saturday morning, I was exhausted! Being on your feet for days and feeling the time pressure + adrenaline of events will leave you needing deep rest. I ended up watching the newest season opener of The Great British Baking Show and hours of college football. We ended the day by celebrating my brother-in-law’s birthday which is always a good way to end a day. We got up early Sunday for Henry’s first swim meet with Carolina Aquatics. He did well, and it was a very fast meet. After tidying the home in the afternoon for Sunday Night Dinner, I took a short nap. Then Mike and I went to an Introduction to Pickleball class at a local recreation center. We had so much fun! I am now scouring the internet for paddles, and how-tos, and promoting getting pickle ball to Quail Valley.
My sister Leslie and my friend Lula joined me at 5:30 this morning to watch the Queen’s funeral. The pomp and circumstance was impressive, beautiful, and incredibly well-organized. We loved that the Dean of Windsor mentioned her “uncomplicated faith” (or was it the Archbishop of Canterbury? I loved both of their remarks!) It was moving to watch the removal of crown, orb, and scepter from the top of her coffin, and to listen to her piper play for her one last time as he exited the castle as her coffin descended below. Don’t get me started on how beautiful it was to see her horse Emma and her two beloved Corgis!
This week begins my monthly MomHeart group that I have led for four years? We read a Sally Clarkson book together every school year and discuss. The group of women are wonderful, teachable mothers seeking to grow in wisdom and humility. This week also begins the MOMS group (a local version of MOPS) that meets twice a month on Wednesday mornings. I have been a mentor mom there for at least seven years, and I take joy encouraging younger mothers. It will be nice to get back into rhythms of service and teaching.
Well, I must go get Henry from school and then take him to swim practice. After spending the entire day sitting in front of the television, it will be nice to get some fresh air!
